Maybe She’s in Europe! Maybe it’s Montréal!

View of Pont Jacques Cartier from La Ronde amusement park.

Montréal is my favourite city to visit in (what I’ve seen of) Canada, and after spending four more days there last week, it’s quite possibly one of my favourite places to visit anywhere. Though I’ve visited the largest city in French-Canada numerous times before, Montréal never feels boring or passé. I used to call it “weekend Europe” because I’ve often felt like I was somewhere new and really different, all while enjoying the comforting familiarity of being in your own country. Combine this setting with amazing friends, both old and new, glorious sunshine, and way too much delicious food, and you’ve yourself the makings of a très bon week-end. Continue reading

Rennes, la capitale de Bretagne

Part 2 of my series of French cities, which began in Paris. This time, in the glorious province of Brittany, where Andrew and I enjoyed the sights, sounds, and tastes like locals thanks to our hosts. Our stay in Rennes was possible due to the hospitality of three beautiful French girls, Céline, Émilie, and Hélène, and their very lucky flatmate, Pierre, the lone male in their enormous apartment. London By Night

I’d been here for three weeks before I partook in the world that is London by night. But I made up for it in one long, long adventure, that started around 20:00 and ended at 04:00 the next day. Continue reading

Salut!

Hi Mum! Look, I’m published!

Hello everyone, and welcome to écrire des tartines, my attempt at joining the blogosphere I love so very much. In these virtual pages, I shall be documenting my life and travels, jumping du coq à l’âne (from rooster to donkey, ie. from subject to subject) as I please. You will become acquainted with my opinions on food, American Idol, French, science, books, Life, the Universe, and Everything. I will make many literary references, allegorizing not because I am ostentatious, but because sometimes, someone else just says it best.

Anyway, it took me a really long time to find a delicious picture of bread with lots of butter on it, and now I am tired and thus must finish my first post. Thanks for visiting, and remember to say hi by commenting or visiting my oft-neglected Twitter.
